Since entering the communications industry in 2003, they have provided antenna solutions for a number of design companies, and for Lenovo, Motorola, TCL Alcatel, LeEco, Xiaomi, Meizu, Samsung and others. Currently, Haitong Communications is an unavoidable name on the supplier lists of mobile terminal equipment manufacturers at home and abroad.

At the "Zhejiang Excellent Projects" competition roadshow.
China Youth Net, Beijing, December 9 Which component is the most important in a smartphone? For Jin Haiyan, founder of Haitong Communications, the answer is undoubtedly "antenna".
This technology, invented by Russian scientist Popov in the 18th century, has fundamentally changed the way humans transmit information and is now widely used in all communication fields, becoming a key to opening the door to the information age. Jin Haiyan and her hundreds of employees are a group of people who "make keys".
Since entering the communications industry in 2003, they have provided antenna solutions for design companies and Lenovo, Motorola, TCL Alcatel, LeEco, Xiaomi, Meizu, Samsung, and others. Currently, Haitong Communications is an unavoidable name on the supplier list of mobile terminal device manufacturers at home and abroad.
The "Invisible" Antenna
In the 1980s, car phones were a symbol of status. Wealthy people often wore slicked-back hair, wool coats, and carried briefcases. These briefcases had to be large enough to hold the brick-sized car phone and its long antenna.
Later, in the era of PHS (Personal Handy-phone System), the antenna became retractable; users had to pull it out before making a call to ensure a signal.
At that time, the antenna was an external antenna. In 2003, the peak of PHS popularity, Jin Haiyan and her husband founded Haitong Communications, entering the R&D and production of communication industry supporting components. At that time, the couple frequently visited Hangzhou and Ningbo, with UTStarcom and Orient Communication among Haitong's earliest customers.
Nowadays, few consumers actively care about the antenna; it's only mentioned when the signal is poor. However, this doesn't diminish its importance. The form of the antenna is no longer a simple copper wire.
"Now, if you look at the all-metal shell phones from Huawei, LeEco, etc., the shell itself is the antenna." said Jin Haiyan. To help LeEco Phone 2s achieve this aesthetically pleasing and practical solution, the Haitong team worked day and night for half a year.
As smart terminals become smaller and more refined, manufacturers' requirements for antennas are becoming increasingly stringent and more specific. For example, for phones emphasizing gaming functions, users must hold the device firmly with both hands. If a general antenna solution is used, the phone's signal will be affected.
This is why Haitong Communications built its R&D center within 3 kilometers of its customers and established a "rapid response" system to understand customer needs and reduce communication costs in a timely manner. Currently, for customer needs provided during the day, the Haitong team can provide a general solution within 10 hours.
R&D Ratio Comparable to Huawei
The ability to quickly provide solutions that meet user needs, this kind of "customized" service tests the team's technology and experience accumulation.
Currently, Haitong Communications has established an R&D team of more than 80 people, composed of masters, doctors, and antenna experts. The R&D accounts for 13% of revenue—a high proportion in the technology field. Last year, Huawei's R&D ratio was 15%.
At the 2016 "Zhejiang Excellent Projects Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition" finals, Haitong Communications won third prize, and Jin Haiyan's latest research results were of great interest to the attendees.
"In the Netherlands, there is already a highway that can charge electric vehicles. In the future, wireless charging technology will further optimize the use of mobile terminals." The wireless charging mentioned by Jin Haiyan is similar to antennas in many technical aspects. Currently, Haitong is cooperating with a new materials company to develop and produce mobile phone wireless charging devices using a new nanocrystalline alloy material, targeting Samsung as a customer.
"Traditional wireless charging technology is mainly controlled by Korean companies and uses ferrite materials. Our new material is 7-8 times thinner while maintaining effectiveness, making it easier to integrate with various hardware terminals. In the future, Haitong will also create its own wireless charging brand."
Clearly, in its 13th year of operation, Jin Haiyan and Haitong have the ambition to take another leap forward. In addition to wireless charging, they have also set their sights on 5G and military communications, which have even higher technical requirements.
In fact, as long as the antenna remains an unshakeable medium for information transmission, Haitong has the strength to compete for high-end users in a "red ocean." In terms of shipment volume alone, Haitong already accounts for a high proportion of the global market for mobile phone antennas, showing signs of becoming a "hidden champion".
